Any communication on paper will have its limitations, which is why the world is finding new and amazing ways to go digital. Most importantly, the time is right because a large part of the world population has access to the infrastructure and devices that make going digital seamless.

Have you ever ran out of a business card in a situation of importance and/or urgency? Failed to contact a person due to outdated information on a business card? Were unable to use a card you had previously collected because you lost it or you simply just couldn’t find it at the right time?

These are some of the limitations we wanted to eliminate by going digital with business cards. We think that disrupting the business card closely reflects the kind of disruption that went through in the last 3 decades with Email, which now has completely transformed how we communicate.

What if I told you email will cease to exist from this point forward? I would imagine that the overall feeling that will triumph, will be of PANIC! Let’s take a few million steps backwards, to the time when a handful of geniuses were trying to create an electronic system to exchange mails back and forth. There were a few types but the one that really stuck took a long time, all the way up till email was invented.

Email was meant to be a direct translation of the inter-office paper based mailing system. Even after email came around, communication was limited. Emailing took place solely on computers, which believe it or not were such a rare luxury when email was invented back in 1978, that they were owned by just a few universities, the military and the big corporations.

Then, innovation happened! With the advent of services like Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and subsequent hardware advancements with personal computers and mobile phones, using email transformed into a seamless process. In the last few years, smartphones and tablets have made email available at all times, eliminating the need for even a desktop computer. This served one of the most useful innovations ever created, on a silver platter to every person who owned or had access to one of these phones.

From a mere 2 users when it was invented, it has transformed into a multi-billion user platform today. The growth was so phenomenal because the simple concept of communication which is essential for every human being was taken and made so effortless.

Unlike letters, emails could be sent across the globe instantly, with a few simple clicks. The unique email address eliminated the scope for a mail intended for one person to be delivered to another. It made multi-location projects easy to accomplish through communication, and also saved organizations the cost of paper and postage.

It was by far the simplest and cheapest way to communicate with colleagues, friends and relatives anywhere in the world. Today, email has become critical for all official communication, advertisement and promotions, identity verifications and most importantly — business.

Without even realizing it, people all over the world have accepted the disruption of a very traditional method of communicating (letters, memos) and accepted Email as the superior form of communication.

This is the kind of disruption we want to bring to business cards. Why should we be limited by the physical nature of it? Cardinbox is here to provide you with the opportunity to use business cards to their maximum potential in every aspect, whether it’s sharing, receiving, searching, storing or using the information on the card.

We all know that the future is ‘digital’. We understand that it’s very difficult to change the mass opinion on a particular matter, but when the good overshadows the bad, the only thing left to do is make the switch. Yes, face to face exchange of business cards adds value and yes we will always be resistant to switch from something we’ve been following all our lives, but how many lost cards and how much outdated information will you have to go through to finally accept that digital business cards is the way to go?

There is a need, and now with Cardinbox, there is a way.
